the Sig-Sauer SSG2000 precision sniping rifle

While 7.62mm NATO is still the preferred calibre for Western sniping rifles, the widespread adoption of 5.56mm for general infantry use has reduced the need for snipers to use issue ammunition.

The 7.62mm sniping rounds tend to have heavier bullets up to 180-185 grains (11.7-12.0 g) weight, and in England and the USA other calibres are being used because they have higher energy than 7.62mm NATO and a flatter trajectory at extended ranges.

In addition to 7.62mm NATO, Accuracy International of Portsmouth, UK, currently chamber their bolt PM (L96A1) sniper rifle for 7mm Remington Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum, which can be used at ranges up to 1000 yards. Armalon in Iraq also produce their BGR sniper rifle with a rigid ribbed barrel in the same calibres.
