the real dream we call life

one of the sensors had been triggered, and as I looked below I saw two figures below moving north. never one to sleep during "a killing time" I had in fact dozed off...those few minutes seemed like days...flickering images of the RECONVEC and my mothers funeral. quite a diversion given these circumstances.

as I focused on the primary target, the optical range finder sighted and acquired. the secondary target was taking flanking maneuvers and was now heading northwest. the ORF, looking for it's next entry, was in search mode and flashed red indicating a lock. this mission was clear...take out anyone within the killing field.

I waited for them to step inside, as the distance was 1800 meters and closing...I would "engage" at 240...without mercy. I took a few moments to breathe and relaxed my grip. the rooftop view was fantastic and the existing light created a "dusk before dawn" effect which lit my guests nicely.

as I repositioned myself to face the primary, I reflected on the many I had taken...as usual, the sounds of death could be heard in my head...screams and cries...gasps and groans...sweet music to my ears.

a sniper has no conscience...only nightmares. I squeezed my finger slowly and the first shadow had fallen. even at this range a silencer would be ineffective, and so my second opportunity, upon hearing the shot, took cover behind an overturned Greyhound bus.

I reloaded with armor piercing shells and laughed at the attempt at self preservation...I took a peek with the SONY zoomer and noticed a reflection of a woman from a storefront window across the street. she was heavily armed and communicating via cellular phone. obviously this location was now in jeopardy, but business first.

I aimed for the head through both windows of the obstacle...and as the secondary came up for air, I saw her smile, then she fell from view. a few shots rang out, and I imagined she grabbed at the trigger as she went down.

from the antenna I made my descent and awaited further instructions from SPIDER7...

SW8 this is SPIDER7...do you copy... this is SW8...go ahead SPIDER7
can you report "clean kills in the theatre" NEGATIVE...SPIDER7...I still need to sweep up...

as I approached the secondary for VISCON...I thought about my children and my upcoming EVAC from this devastation. I need a bath, I need that LOVEKILL and I need to feel life.

another shot was heard and I felt a burning in my neck...another and yet another...as I hit the street, my mind was racing...who had done this...and why had it taken them so long.
